Workers keep full short-term disability pay

The law bars insurers from cutting temporary or short-term disability pay because you receive, or may receive, D.C. Universal Paid Leave. It applies to individual and group policies, even if the policy was issued in another state. The protection applies to eligible workers under D.C.’s paid leave law. The rule applies as of July 10, 2024. As an emergency act, it remains in effect no longer than 90 days after the mayor approves it.
