Free special education in DC jails

The DC Department of Corrections must provide free special education. It applies to people with disabilities who are age 18 or older and detained in a DC DOC secure facility. Services continue through the end of each person’s eligibility under federal and DC special education law. This rule applies only during the 2024–2025 school year. The law takes effect April 12, 2025.
