Family Re-Housing denials: 30‑day notice, appeal

Beginning July 10, 2025, if your Family Re-Housing extension is denied, the Department must give you 30 days’ written notice before the final subsidy payment. The notice must state the reason and explain how to appeal. If you request a fair hearing within 15 days of getting the notice, your services continue until the hearing decision. These protections apply while program funds are available. This emergency law remains in effect through October 8, 2025.

More time in Family Re-Housing

Beginning July 10, 2025, the Department may extend Family Re-Housing help past 12 months if program funds are available. You must ask in writing, show a good‑faith effort on your individualized plan that a provider checks at regular times, and not yet be approved for permanently affordable housing. The Department looks at your whole situation when deciding. Any extension is up to 6 months at a time, with formal reviews every 3 months. This emergency law remains in effect through October 8, 2025.
