Annuity at 60 for Secret Service and Park Police

Covered members of the Secret Service Uniformed Division, the Secret Service Division, and the United States Park Police can be retired at age 60 at the department head’s discretion. Members retired under this rule are entitled to an annuity. The annuity is calculated under paragraph (1) of the law’s formula. This applies only to members covered by the Policemen and Firemen’s Retirement and Disability Act.

When this temporary law starts and ends

The law takes effect after the Mayor approves it, or after a Council veto override. It also waits for a 30-day congressional review under the Home Rule Act. The law expires 225 days after it takes effect.
