Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

4-year business license and refunds

Beginning October 1, 2025, District business licenses under this subchapter can run 6 months, 2 years, or 4 years. A 4-year license costs $198 when issued. Picking a longer term means fewer renewals and less paperwork. The Mayor can refund license fees or taxes paid in error under Chapter 28 of Title 47.

Neighborhood notice and input on entertainment licenses

Beginning October 1, 2025, the licensing agency must give the local Advisory Neighborhood Commission 30 days’ notice by mail or email before granting or renewing licenses for theaters, cinemas, skating rinks, dance halls, exhibitions, lectures, or similar entertainment. The notice must list the applicant and the exact location. The agency must give great weight to the Commission’s recommendation when deciding. This adds advance community review that applicants should plan for.
