Rent caps lifted for low-income housing tax credit units

The law exempts apartments in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program from DC’s rent-stabilization rules. Housing providers of these units are now exempt from DC rent caps; tenants in these buildings lose those local protections. It applies to any rental unit where the owner receives those tax credits. This emergency law takes effect after mayoral approval and lasts no longer than 90 days.
