The law removes the February 18, 2025 end date for Secure DC pretrial detention rules. Courts keep applying a rebuttable presumption to detain in certain criminal and juvenile cases. These rules stay in place until the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council finishes and sends its report to the Mayor and the Council.
The law updates the reporting rule for the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Reports must include the right data to judge how the pretrial detention rules work. The CJCC must send these reports to the Mayor and the Council.
