Veterinarians can seek Florida licenses sooner

Beginning July 1, 2026, Florida removes the three-year license-holding requirement for veterinarians seeking a license by endorsement. This route accepts valid, active licenses in good standing from another U.S. state, Washington, D.C., or a U.S. territory. Applicants must have passed an exam equivalent to or stricter than Florida's required exam. A second route requires the qualifications in Florida Statutes section 474.207(2)(b), an equivalent or stricter exam, and a clinical skills exam. That clinical exam must be the board's exam or another exam allowed by board rule. Both routes require an application, proof of knowledge of Florida veterinary laws and rules, and payment of the board-set fee. The law sets no fixed fee amount.
