Disability services include Tatton-Brown-Rahman syndrome

Beginning July 1, 2026, Florida adds Tatton-Brown-Rahman syndrome to the conditions that qualify for developmental disability services. The condition must appear before age 18 and cause a substantial handicap expected to last indefinitely. Having the syndrome does not guarantee eligibility. The law does not add new benefits or change benefit amounts.

More worker screening protects disability clients

Beginning July 1, 2026, all employees at covered Florida residential facilities and adult day training programs need Level 2 screening. These facilities and programs must be licensed under Florida's developmental disability law. Screening includes work history and local criminal records checks. Coverage expands beyond managers and supervisors, adding safeguards for people with disabilities receiving services there.
