Florida businesses gain online trademark filing

Beginning July 1, 2026, Florida replaces its old trademark classes with an international schedule for goods and services. The Department of State must provide a secure trademark registration and renewal website by December 31, 2027. The site must protect applicant information and support electronic specimens, mark drawings, fee payments, and required verification. Applicants or authorized representatives must sign and verify applications under Florida law; electronic verification is allowed under state electronic-signature rules. Paper applications require three specimens or copies showing the mark as actually used. Online applications require one electronic specimen showing actual use and meeting department requirements.
