Patients keep primary care with yearly checks
Effective upon becoming law, Florida sets temporary certificate rules for physicians, osteopathic physicians, and nurses in critical-need areas. Certificates remain available while the State Surgeon General finds that the reason for them remains a critical state need. Providers can also keep giving primary care after an area loses that status. They must maintain an active primary care relationship with at least one patient there and meet all other practice requirements. Each profession’s board must check compliance at least yearly. If a provider fails to comply, the board must revoke the certificate or restrict continued practice.
