Drivers keep paying $3 traffic surcharge

You pay an extra $3 for each criminal offense listed in Florida section 318.17 or noncriminal moving violation under chapter 316. The law removes the surcharge’s July 1, 2026 expiration, keeping it in place without an end date. The Department of Revenue sends proceeds quarterly to the State Agency Law Enforcement Radio System Trust Fund. The money supports the radio system and technical help for state and local law enforcement communications. The Department of Management Services may keep funds to cover system management and technical assistance costs. That department and the Joint Task Force on State Agency Law Enforcement Communications decide how funds improve the system. The law took effect upon becoming law.
