More help for mobile home owners
Beginning July 1, 2026, Florida counties and eligible cities can offer eligible mobile home owners help with lot rent. Rent help is capped at six months. Owners can also receive funds for home repairs and emergency repairs, depending on local funding and decisions. Lot rent help counts toward the requirement to reserve at least 65% of local housing distributions for homeownership. These changes do not guarantee any owner assistance.
Broader funding and mobile home planning
Beginning July 1, 2026, Florida removes the 20% cap on local housing distributions used for manufactured housing. Counties and eligible cities can direct a larger share to this housing, but do not have to. Their housing plans must address people who lose affordable housing when a mobile home park closes. Plans must also include a strategy to fund eligible mobile home owners, including lot rent help. These planning requirements do not guarantee residents money or replacement housing.
