Echols County elects commissioners countywide

Beginning January 1, 2027, Echols County elects five commissioners at large, in Posts 1–5, under the Georgia Election Code. Candidates must pick a post at qualifying, live in the county for 12 months before the election, and win a countywide majority. Commissioners must remain county residents during their terms or the seat becomes vacant. Commissioners serve four-year terms and stay in office until successors are elected and qualified. On January 1, 2027, current district commissioners are assigned to Posts 1–5 in order: Post 1 = District 1 Post 1; Post 2 = District 1 Post 2; Post 3 = District 2 Post 1; Post 4 = District 2 Post 2; Post 5 = District 3. The law repeals the old district map and text (Appendix A, EcholsCC-2022).
