2026 Ware County bypass ballot question

Ware County places a nonbinding advisory question on the 2026 general primary ballot. The ballot asks: "Do you support a perimeter highway bypass around Waycross?" Voters choose Yes or No. The vote is advisory only. It does not approve building, funding, or change property or law.

County must run and fund referendum

The Ware County election superintendent must call and run the vote under state election law. The superintendent must publish the date and purpose once a week for the two weeks before the election. The superintendent must certify results to the Secretary of State. Ware County pays all election costs. If the superintendent does not comply, any Ware County voter can ask a court to order the election on the required date or the next allowed special election date.
