Payments by an individual or a family for a student's tuition or related fees are not included in these reports. The student must be affiliated with or attending a University System of Georgia program, class, or course of study. This exemption limits disclosure of family-paid tuition.
The University System of Georgia must file reports by January 31 and July 31 each year. Each report covers the two most recent calendar quarters. It must list all money from a foreign country, entity, or person of concern when total from one source is over $1,000. Funding includes gifts, grants, donations, payments for services, investments, salaries, wages, compensation, and fees. Reports must show the amount, funding type, provider name and address, copies of any contracts, agreements, or MOUs, the purpose, and whether it was one-time or part of a series. A “foreign country of concern” is the list set by the U.S. Commerce Secretary in 15 C.F.R. § 791.4 as of February 4, 2025.
