New Georgia semiconductor commission

The law creates the Georgia CHIPS and Advanced Technology Commission, subject to available funding. It brings together colleges, industry, and nonprofits to grow chip research, design, manufacturing, and advanced packaging. It makes a statewide plan, advises on investment, and expands workforce training. The commission sits in the Department of Economic Development for administrative support. Members include three named by the Governor; two by the Senate President; two by the House Speaker; the university system chancellor (or designee); and the technical college commissioner (or designee). Vacancies are filled by the original appointing official. The commission ends on June 30, 2028.

Old semiconductor consortium repealed

The law repeals the statute that created the Georgia CHIPS and Advanced Technology Consortium under the OneGeorgia Authority. That consortium no longer exists as a legal entity. This repeal ends the prior framework and shifts coordination to the new commission created in this act.
