Paid donation leave for college staff

If you work at least half time for the University System of Georgia or the Technical College System, you get paid leave to donate. You can take up to 7 days for bone marrow and up to 30 days for an organ. Your pay stays the same, and the time is not taken from sick or annual leave. Emergency or temporary employees are not covered. You must give your employer a note from the doctor or hospital at least 7 days before the leave.

Local waivers cannot cut donor leave

School districts, local boards, and charter systems cannot use waiver rules to reduce or end this donor leave. The paid donor-leave rights in this law stay in place statewide.
