Easier to serve eviction papers on renters

When a landlord files an eviction affidavit, the court issues a summons. It goes to the sheriff, a lawful county constable, or an approved process server. They must try to hand you the summons and affidavit in person. If they cannot, they can give them to any adult living at the home. If no adult is found after reasonable effort, they can post the papers on your door and mail a copy by first-class mail the same day to your last known address. They must record this on the case affidavit. This makes it easier for landlords to complete service and move the case forward.
