$100,000 school tax break for Catoosa seniors

Beginning January 1, 2027, qualified Catoosa County school‑district homeowners who are 67 or older on January 1 of the application year get $100,000 of assessed value exempt from school property taxes, if voters approve this at the 2026 general primary. The break applies only to Catoosa school taxes for education, including bond taxes; it does not cut state, county, or city taxes, and you cannot stack it with other school homestead exemptions. You must own and live in the home and file an application with the Catoosa County tax commissioner; the office provides the form. After your first approval, it renews each year while you live there; tell the tax office if you become ineligible. Any assessed value above $100,000 is still taxed. If voters do not approve in 2026, this exemption does not take effect and is repealed the next July 1.
