New teaching-only dental license in Georgia

The law creates a teacher or instructor dental license for work at accredited schools and their clinics. You may qualify without a Georgia exam if you hold or held a license elsewhere, have a dean’s recommendation and a job offer, have current CPR, never failed the Georgia exam, and never had a license revoked. Graduates of non-accredited schools must finish defined extra training at an accredited program and get the dean’s certification of DDS/DMD-level skills. You must pass a Georgia law exam in English and complete a fingerprint background check; you pay the check’s fees. This license lets you practice only as part of your school job or its affiliated clinics. The Board sets the license fees and the documents you must submit.

Temporary license for public-health dentists

The Board issues a temporary license, without an exam, so dentists can work in public health and certain state facilities. You must hold a license in another state in good standing and have graduated from an accredited dental college. You can practice only in state or local health departments or in state-operated eleemosynary (charity) or correctional institutions. The Board sets how long the temporary license lasts.
