The law requires a citywide vote in Cedartown on the Tuesday after the third Tuesday in March 2025. Voters see a YES/NO question to let the City use state redevelopment powers, including tax allocation districts and bonds. The election superintendent must publish the date and purpose at least 90 days before, and once a week for the two weeks before, in Polk County’s legal paper. The City pays election costs, and results are certified to the Secretary of State. If more than half vote Yes, these powers start right away. If voters say No or the vote is not held as required, Section 1 does not start and the Act is repealed on January 1 after the election.
Most of the law takes effect when the Governor signs it or it becomes law without a signature. The March 2025 vote decides whether Cedartown’s redevelopment powers in Section 1 start. Any law that conflicts with this Act is repealed to the extent of the conflict when this Act takes effect.
