3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.
Tech fee money can only pay for court technology. Allowed costs include computers and software; audio/visual and scanning gear; data storage and cloud platforms; support and connectivity; and cybersecurity insurance. The clerk must keep this money in a separate account. The power to charge the fee ends on July 1, 2044. After that, any money left stays for Habersham County technology uses.
The Habersham County Magistrate Court clerk may add up to $10 to each civil case you file. The court may also add up to $10 to each fine as a surcharge. The chief magistrate sets the exact amounts, up to these caps. The money supports court technology.
The law repeals the April 22, 2024 Act about the Habersham Magistrate Court tech fee. It also repeals any state laws that conflict with this Act. This cleans up the rules so this law controls. This does not change fee amounts by itself.
