DHS checks sealed records for foster care and hires

The Georgia Department of Human Services can access restricted and sealed criminal history records. It uses this to oversee programs and to check eligibility for foster parents and adults living in foster homes. DHS also checks these records when hiring employees and contractors. These restricted records remain off-limits to private people and most other agencies, except as this law allows.
