Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Court must spend fees on technology

The clerk keeps all technology fee money in a separate account. The money can be used only for court technology needs. Allowed uses include computers, software, audio‑visual and scanning gear, support services, cloud storage, cybersecurity, and training. It cannot fund other costs.

Carroll probate filings: up to $10 fee

The Carroll County Probate Court clerk may charge a technology fee for each civil action you file. The judge sets the amount, up to $10 per filing. The court’s power to charge this fee ends July 1, 2035. Filings after that date do not pay it. Any leftover fee money stays dedicated to county technology uses.
