2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
The law gives a 100% exemption from City of College Park property taxes on your homestead if you are 65 or older or disabled. There is no income limit. You must own and live in the home, apply with the City, and show age or disability; the City provides application forms. The exemption takes effect January 1, 2026 only if voters approve the referendum on November 4, 2025.
The City’s election superintendent must hold a referendum on November 4, 2025 about the homestead exemption. The City must publish the date and purpose twice before the vote and pay the election costs. The superintendent must certify results to the Secretary of State. If voters approve, the exemption starts January 1, 2026. If voters reject it or the election is not run as required, Section 1 does not take effect and the Act is repealed 365 days after the election date. Any city voter can ask a court to order compliance if officials fail to act.
