Loganville homeowners get city tax break

Beginning January 1, 2026, Loganville gives a homestead exemption for city property taxes. Each year, your exempt amount equals how much your current assessed value is above your adjusted base‑year value. The current‑year value includes any final value set on appeal. You must live in the home as your homestead. Apply with the City or its designee unless you had a 2025 homestead exemption and still qualify; then 2026 is allowed automatically. Once granted, it renews each year while you live there, and you must tell the City if you become ineligible. A surviving spouse may keep the exemption while living in the home. This exemption lowers only your City of Loganville tax bill.

State sets inflation index for assessments

The Georgia revenue commissioner sets a standard way to update base‑year values for inflation. The method may use the Consumer Price Index or a similar index. This choice can raise or lower assessed values used to compute exemptions statewide.

City applies the bigger homestead break

If more than one base‑year homestead exemption could apply to Loganville city taxes, the City applies the one that saves you more. You cannot stack two base‑year exemptions for city taxes. Other homestead exemptions may still apply in addition, when allowed by law.

City vote on tax break Nov 4

The City of Loganville holds a vote on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to approve or reject this exemption. If more than half of votes approve, the exemption takes effect January 1, 2026. If it is not approved or the election is not held as required, the Act is repealed 365 days after the election date. The City pays the cost of the election.
