Lilburn homeowners get new city property tax exemptions. Your bill ignores any home value increase above 8% from last year, plus $5,000 of value. Seniors 65+ can exempt $50,000. Disabled homeowners can exempt $10,000, and it also covers taxes for bond debt. You cannot claim the general exemption if you get the disabled one. None of these apply to land beyond one acre at the homestead. They start January 1, 2026 only if city voters approve them on November 4, 2025.
The City of Lilburn holds an election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Voters decide whether to approve the homestead tax exemptions. If more than half vote yes, the exemptions take effect January 1, 2026. If not, the Act is repealed 365 days after the election. The city must publish the notice, certify results to the state, and pay the election costs. Voters can ask a court to force compliance.
