2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
Beginning January 1, 2026, Norcross exempts up to $45,000 of your home’s assessed value from city property taxes if you own and live there. If you are 65 or older, the exemption is up to $90,000. Any value above the exempt amount is still taxed. This does not reduce taxes used to pay interest on retired city bonds. Your yearly savings equal the exempt amount times the city millage rate, divided by 1,000.
Norcross holds a local vote on the exemptions on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November 2025. The City pays the election cost. If a majority approves, the higher exemptions take effect January 1, 2026. If voters do not approve or the election is not held as required, the Act is repealed 365 days after the election date. The election superintendent must run the vote, publish notice, certify results to the state, and courts can order the election if needed.
