Cedartown voters decide redevelopment powers

The law lets Cedartown use Georgia’s redevelopment tools, like tax allocation districts and bonds, but only if voters approve. The city must hold a referendum on November 4, 2025, publish notice at least 90 days before and weekly for two weeks before the vote, and pay the election cost. The ballot asks whether to let Cedartown use all redevelopment powers under state law. If more than half vote Yes, the powers take effect at once; if not or if the election is not held as required, Section 1 does not take effect and the Act is repealed on January 1 after the election. Other parts of the Act take effect when signed into law, and any conflicting laws are repealed. Election results must be certified to the Secretary of State.
