Bigger school tax break for Gordon County seniors

If you own and live in your home in the Gordon County school district and are 65 or older, you get a larger school property tax break. Ages 65–69 get $50,000 of assessed value exempt. Ages 70–74 get $115,000 exempt. Ages 75+ get $125,000 exempt. Any value above these amounts is still taxed for school purposes. Your age is checked on January 1 of the tax year. These exemptions take effect January 1, 2026, only if voters approve them in the referendum held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November 2025.
