State ID and job documents after release

The law requires the Department of Corrections to give you, on request and with your consent, documents to help you find work after release. This help is only for people who are not illegal aliens under Georgia law. You get your vocational training and work records, a certified birth certificate if it can be obtained, and a Social Security card or replacement if it can be obtained. You also get a resume that lists trades learned and skill level, proof of a practice job interview, and notice if you can apply for a state occupational license. If you do not have a current Georgia ID or driver’s license, the department works with Driver Services to issue you a state ID. The department can include a Program and Treatment Completion Certificate and your program history, like education and completed training. You do not have to do a resume or practice interview if you are 65 or older, leaving on medical reprieve or from a prison infirmary, going to another jurisdiction on a warrant or detainer, or the department decides you cannot return to work for physical or mental reasons. State agencies can set rules to carry this out.
