New rules for private college grants

Georgia updates which private, for-profit bachelor’s colleges can receive state tuition equalization grants. A school must be in Georgia, be incorporated here, grant bachelor’s degrees, and hold Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Level VI accreditation. It must admit only students with a high school diploma, a state-approved high school equivalency diploma, or an accredited college degree, and its students must be eligible for federal Pell Grants. The Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission must review and approve the school, looking at programs, teaching quality, job placement, libraries, faculty and staff, finances, facilities, campuses, and equipment. The school must have been in Georgia at least 10 years, be located here on or before January 1, 2021, and have met all these requirements by January 1, 2021. Bible schools and graduate theology or divinity schools are not eligible. If your school does not meet these rules or later loses them, you cannot use this grant there.
