Bill Overview

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

College cost gap covered for foster/adopted students

Georgia public colleges must waive tuition and all fees for eligible foster or adopted students to cover any remaining assessed cost of attendance. The school covers the gap between your assessed cost of attendance and all other aid shown on your FAFSA Submission Summary. Loans and work-study do not count as other aid for this rule. You must meet Georgia’s foster/adopted tuition waiver rules in Code Section 20-3-660(c). This rule is now in effect.

Georgia laws cover any Education Department successor

Georgia updates certain laws to say that any successor to the U.S. Department of Education is included wherever that agency is named. These updates apply only to specific listed code sections. They take effect only if Congress repeals or abolishes the U.S. Department of Education.
