Only the State Attorney General can bring cases to enforce the ban on selling completed assignments or exam work. People cannot file private lawsuits under the usual consumer-law section for these violations. The civil action law now starts with "Except as otherwise provided" to make room for these exceptions.
The law bans selling or providing, for money or other pay, mostly finished work to students or test-takers for credit. This includes essays, reports, projects, or exam answers that could be turned in as an assignment or part of one. Disclaimers or contract terms do not shield sellers from this rule. Normal tutoring, study help, and research materials are still allowed. Automated tools can answer prompts if they do not give mostly finished assignments and the tool is not mainly for that. Violations count as unfair or deceptive business practices under the state consumer law.
