60-day nonrenewal notice for homeowners

Beginning Jan 1, 2026, insurers must give at least 60 days' written notice before not renewing a Georgia homeowners policy. The 60 days start on the day the notice is mailed or delivered. The notice must be delivered in person or mailed by first-class to your last address and any lienholder, with USPS proof of mailing. The notice must also state the reasons for nonrenewal. These rules apply to policies issued, delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed in Georgia on or after Jan 1, 2026.
