Hawaii aligns pay and allowances for Guard members on state active duty with federal military rates for similar ranks. Members can have pay deposited directly into a personal bank account. Members activated for more than 30 days who lack other health insurance receive an allowance for their own TRICARE Reserve Select, dental, and vision coverage; eligible dependents can receive TRICARE Reserve Select coverage. These allowances are no longer limited to certain ranks. Enlisted members also receive at least ten times the state minimum hourly wage for each day of service, except during specified training periods. Members cannot receive state pay for service already paid by the U.S. military.
