Beginning July 1, 2025, judges first employed before July 1, 2031, are in Class A. Judges first employed after June 30, 2031, are in Class H. Members who first earn credited service as a judge after June 30, 2031, earn 1.75% of average final pay for each year of judge service, plus an annuity based on applicable contributions. The calculation uses age 60; younger members receive an age-reduced allowance.
The state provides up to $300,000 in general funds for fiscal year 2025–2026 for a study of vesting for Tier 2 Hybrid members. The study examines reducing the service requirement from 10 years to 5 years and must report recommendations to the Legislature before the 2027 regular session. The study does not itself change retirement benefits.
