Grooming convictions require sex offender registration

Beginning July 1, 2025, a grooming conviction under Iowa Code 709.8A requires sex offender registration. People convicted must follow Iowa’s sex offender registry rules, including reporting and public listing. This adds grooming to the list of crimes that trigger registration and lets the public see this information.
