Open THC and alcohol banned in cars

Beginning 07/01/2025, drivers and passengers cannot have open or unsealed alcohol or THC drinks in the passenger area on public streets or highways. The passenger area includes seats and any spot you can reach while seated, including the glove compartment. Open containers must be kept in the trunk, or if there is no trunk, behind the last upright seat. A conviction is a simple misdemeanor with a scheduled fine under section 805.8A(14)(e). If you are under 21 and possess alcohol in violation, it is handled under section 123.47.
