Broader grant access for minority college students
Beginning July 1, 2026, Iowa’s minority student grants give priority to Iowa residents rather than applicants who received vouchers. The law directs grants to minority persons. Iowa minority residents with financial need can qualify when accepted to or attending an eligible school. Eligible schools include Board of Regents universities, community colleges, and accredited private institutions. The law does not specify grant amounts.
