Pregnant minors can consent to pregnancy care

Beginning July 1, 2026, a pregnant minor can consent to prenatal, labor, and postnatal care if a parent, guardian, or legal custodian is not reasonably available. Doctors, the doctor’s designee, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and emergency medical care providers can accept that consent. Providers must still obtain the minor’s informed consent before giving this care.
