Supervised apartments for eligible court youth

Beginning July 1, 2025, a juvenile court can place a child in a delinquency case in a supervised apartment under a consent decree. This applies only if the child lived continuously in a qualified residential treatment program or a shelter for at least six months right before the decision, and the child lacks family support to move to independent living. If the court transfers legal custody to that apartment, the state pays only when the supervised apartment meets rules set by the department. The law does not set payment amounts.
