Beginning July 1, 2025, school districts must pay the state‑mandated costs in this law from their state school foundation aid. The state does not provide extra money for full implementation. The law states this meets the state’s funding duty for mandates.
The law requires each district to offer computer science that meets state standards in at least one grade. This requirement remains in effect and is reaffirmed. It applies beginning July 1, 2025.
Beginning July 1, 2025, public schools must teach career planning in grades 5 and 6. Lessons include career investigation, connections, and intentions to support each student’s career and academic plan. In grades 7 and 8, public schools must teach career exploration and development. Middle school lessons include core CTE concepts, twenty‑first century skills, and local and statewide job options, and prepare students to build a plan. These middle school career lessons do not apply to nonpublic schools.
Beginning July 1, 2025, the state posts a list of industry credentials students in grades 9–12 can earn. The Department gives schools an official seal to mark these credentials. Districts must report which students earn a listed, CTE‑aligned credential, and those reports are confidential and not public records. Graduates who earned one get the seal on their transcript or a sealed certificate.
