Beginning July 1, 2025, Iowa law recognizes statewide nonprofit organ procurement organizations in section 147.1(5). These groups must be statewide nonprofits and meet the state definition of an organ procurement organization. The change clarifies their status in law and links to the state’s organ donation statute. It does not change household benefits, taxes, or fees.
