Any-sex deer license for Iowa disabled vets

Beginning July 1, 2025, an Iowa resident disabled veteran can get one any-sex deer license. It is good for any firearm deer season, using the method allowed for that season. You must have served on federal active duty and been disabled during that service, verified by the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs. You must fill out the required form and show proof of Iowa residency and disability. This license is in addition to any other deer licenses you qualify for.

More nonresident licenses and veteran set-asides

Beginning July 1, 2025, the state provides up to 125 nonresident wild turkey licenses for allocation, up from 75. It also reserves 75 nonresident deer licenses and 75 nonresident wild turkey licenses for disabled service members who live outside Iowa. To use a set-aside, you must have served on active federal duty and been disabled during that service, or be serving on active federal duty and have been disabled. These set-aside licenses are to join hunts in Iowa run by groups that host disabled hunters.
