Attorney General fees paid by injury fund

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Attorney General must assign a staff lawyer to handle all Second Injury Fund matters. The Attorney General is reimbursed from the Fund for this work, up to $900,000 each year. The Insurance Commissioner must count this reimbursement as an outstanding liability when checking the Fund’s funding under existing law. These are administrative and financing rules for the Fund and do not change who can get workers’ comp benefits.
