Disabled veterans gain lifetime fur harvester licenses
Beginning July 1, 2025, eligible Iowa veterans can get a lifetime fur harvester license. Applicants must have served on federal active duty in the U.S. armed forces and become disabled during that service. Disability means entitlement to a service-connected rating under 38 U.S.C. chapter 11. Applicants must pay a fee set by department rules; the law does not state the amount. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources must provide an application form and issue the license upon receiving the required fee. The Department of Veterans Affairs must help verify applicants’ status or claims.
