Schools must take cash at sports events

Beginning July 1, 2026, Iowa public schools must accept legal tender (cash) for entry to extracurricular interscholastic athletic contests or competitions sponsored by an organization. Organizations that sponsor these events and register with the Iowa Department of Education must also accept legal tender for entry. Families who attend can pay the gate fee with cash.
