Cities and counties can limit fireworks

Beginning July 1, 2025, your city council or county board can pass rules to ban or limit fireworks use. Rules can only apply to days other than July 3, July 4, and December 31. Counties must first find that use threatens safety or property, or is a nuisance to neighbors. Cities can also limit certain small novelty items named in state law.
